ES Cell FBS is a specially-tested fetal bovine serum that ensures maintenance of pluripotency and reduced differentiation of embryonic stem cells in culture.

Embryonic stem (ES) cells are particularly demanding, and it is crucial to keep them in their valuable, undifferentiated state. Historically, ES cell researchers had to laboriously screen several lots of serum to find one suitable for their cells.

Upsilon offers ES Cell Pre-tested FBS to minimize the need for prescreening serum, saving both time and money while providing the assurance that the serum used has been screened by experienced ES cell culturists. The screening includes growth promotion, colony morphology, and cytotoxicity. ES Cell FBS is selected from our highest-quality FBS lots and pre-tested on murine embryonic stem cells.

Our fetal bovine serum for cell culture supports most cell lines and undergoes strict quality controls. This product is collected in Australia.

Use Instructions

For use in cell culture media, the supplementation ranges from 5% to 20%. The optimum concentration concentration should be determined by the ultimate user. 

Heat Inactivation

Serum may be heat inactivated at 56°C for 30 minutes.  

Storage and Stability

Store at -10°C to-40°C. Product is stable for 5 years from the date of manufacture if kept at frozen temperature. We suggest that the product should not be subjected to multiple freeze-thaw cycles, should be made into aliquots. Turbidity or flocculent material may be observed upon thawing or prolonged storage at refrigerated temperatures. This is normal in most serum products and not detrimental to its performance.
